Shields against both UVA and UVB rays  ✅

The Derma Co sunscreen comes with SPF 50 and PA++++ formulation.

SPF 50 is a high-level sun protection factor that can help prevent sunburn and other damaging effects of the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. It offers broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays, which are known to cause premature aging, sunburn, and skin cancer. With an SPF of 50, a person can spend up to 50 times longer in the sun without experiencing a sunburn than they would without any sunscreen. It is essential to reapply SPF 50 sunscreen every two hours or immediately after swimming, sweating, or toweling off to ensure maximum protection. We should note that SPF 50 does not provide complete protection from the sun, so it is still essential to seek shade, wear protective clothing and hats, and avoid prolonged sun exposure during peak hours to maintain healthy skin.

PA++++ is a rating system used in Asian countries to measure a sunscreen’s protection against UVA rays, which are responsible for skin aging and skin cancer. It is the highest rating a sunscreen can receive, indicating the highest level of UVA protection available. PA stands for “Protection Grade of UVA,” and the number of plus signs after it indicates the level of protection against UVA rays. PA++++ provides the most comprehensive protection against UVA rays, making it an ideal choice for those who are concerned about preventing skin aging and skin cancer. When combined with a high SPF, PA++++ ensures that our skin is protected against both UVA and UVB rays, offering maximum protection against the sun’s harmful effects. Choosing a sunscreen with a high SPF and a PA++++ rating is crucial for those who want to enjoy the sun safely while also preserving the youthful appearance of their skin.

In short, The Derma Co 1% Hyaluronic Sunscreen Aqua Gel is ideal for preventing sun burns

High SPF level to prevent sunburn ✅

While SPF 30 is considered sufficient for most people, a high SPF sunscreen, such as SPF 50 or above, offers even more protection. Thus a sunscreen with SPF 50 and above can block up to 98% of UVB rays, significantly reducing the risk of sunburn and other sun damage.

It is important to note that high SPF sunscreens are particularly useful for individuals with fair skin or a history of skin cancer, as they offer extra protection against harmful UV rays.

With SPF 50 and PA++++ , The Derma Co sunscreen is ideal for protection against the sun

No white cast ✅

The brand claims to leave no white cast. After using it for a while in both summer and winter, I can vouch for it to be true. During my use I have also noticed a glow, which is different froma white cast. While it may varry through different skin tones, majority of people do not experience a significant white cast.

The Derma Co sunscreen is suited for all skin tones and it leaves minimal to no white cast

Water-resistant to ensure prolonged protection  ❌

While most sunscreen need retouching every 2-3 hours, it is recomded to get a water-resistant sunscreen if you are someone who enjoys outdoor activities like swimming, surfing, or water sports. These sunscreens are designed to stay on the skin for longer periods of time, even when exposed to water or sweat, providing uninterrupted protection against the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. The Derma Co sunscreen is not water resistant and thus if you live in a hot and humid area this sunscreen may need more reapplying.

The Derma Co sunscreen do not provide water resistance

Free from harsh chemicals ❌

The sunscreen has ingredients that are generally safe and beneficial for the skin. However, the fact that it contains benzophenone-3 makes me a bit hesitant to use it. This is because there are concerns about the potential health risks associated with this ingredient, even though regulatory agencies like the FDA have approved its use in sunscreens.

If you feel the same way about benzophenone-3, you may want to consider using a different sunscreen that doesn’t contain this ingredient. You can also look for “reef-safe” sunscreens that avoid using chemicals that are known to harm coral reefs, including benzophenone-3.

Ultimately, the decision to use a particular sunscreen is up to you, and it’s important to feel comfortable with the ingredients in the product you choose. If you have any questions or concerns about sunscreen ingredients, it’s always a good idea to speak with a dermatologist or other healthcare professional for guidance.

The Derma Co sunscreen is considered gentle on skin, but if the presence of benzophenone-3 is something that bothers you, this might not be the right sunscreen for you

Not leave any greasy or sticky residue  ✅

In my own experience of using the sunscreen both indoors and outdoors, I haven’t noticed any significant greasy or oily texture on my skin.

The Derma Co sunscreen is suitable for all skin types.
